‘Charcoal Forest’ is a home purifier project, inspired by the leftovers from the charcoal industry. Regard refined carbonized wood or bamboo as purifier had long been a tradition in the asian culture. For this project, I use the branches and leaves that were discarded during the charcoal production. The exploration includes different burning time and forming methods.
In the end I made the half-burned branches into vases, the charcoaled top purifies the water while the wooden bottom is still a solid container. The different parts of the branches results in each unique vase.
The second series is the odor absorbers made of charcoaled leaves. Some of them use the original pure form of the leaf. Some of them were form with structures before being burned, and the tar that generates during the char process sticks the shape and make it solid.
